The College Affordability Act (H.R. 4674) aims to make substantial and permanent investments in higher education so that students can spend less to earn a quality degree. The goal is to expand opportunity for students from all backgrounds by providing flexible college options and stronger support to meet students’ individual needs as well as improve the quality of higher education by holding schools accountable for students’ success.
The CAA tackles the rising cost of tuition and increases federal student aid so that every student can afford to attend college and earn a quality degree. This proposal:

Next Gen CTE Pilot:
The purpose of the Next Gen CTE Pilot is to support Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in the cost of starting new Career Technical Education (CTE) programs of study that lead to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) proficiency, and to support LEAS in developing CTE related supports (with or without a new program of study).
The legislature committed to seven years of funding to support new STEM CTE program development in New Mexico. Although funding is not guaranteed beyond 2019-20, applicants might reasonably expect ongoing funding in support of new programs that received start-up funds in 2019-20. While some funding is also available for affiliated CTE supports, new CTE programs will receive the highest priority in awarding funding.
