At Socorro High School (SHS), all students can participate in the Socorro High School Early College High School (ECHS) starting in the ninth grade by taking a college prep-style course to help ensure their success in high school. In SHS ECHS, students take a wide range of career-technical, science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and general education classes that result in certificates, associate degrees, and two-year progress toward a four-year Bachelor of Arts. SHS ECHS leverages existing dual credit opportunities and mentoring with the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology(NMT) to create direct pathways that allow for both an Associate of General Science and a Certificate in Business through NMT, as well as identifying a range of courses that students can complete that will transfer toward four-year degrees.
