Alta Vista Early College High School (Alta Vista), a free-standing ECHS, provides all students with multiple, opportunistic pathways. Alta Vista will make available to students a course on the Principles of Technology to help enable students to gain a solid foundation for careers in electronics, robotics, telecommunications, and other technological fields. Alta Vista has implemented the Oracle Academy Database Design and Programming Career Pathway to improve by joining forces with the local economic community. Students will be employable at entry, technical, and professional levels, and capable of designing, developing, supporting, and managing hardware, software, multimedia, and systems integration services. Alta Vista follows the High Schools that Work (HSTW) model, one that trains teachers in the use of best practices, common core state standards, career readiness, and a Next Step Plan, along with coaching visits from the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). Additionally, Alta Vista partners with Doña Ana Community College (DACC) to provide post-secondary training to Alta Vista students. Students are afforded a coordinated, seamless education as they go from enrollment in a high school to enrollment in a post-secondary institution.
